There are many large Pediatric groups in Florida. If you are looking for more person to person contact with your physician and shorter wait times; It is often better to choose a solo Pediatrician or one in a smaller group. The large groups do offer 7 day a week coverage, but there wait times are quite long and most of the time you will not see the same doctor each time. If you want a doctor who knows your child and your child's needs, this is something to consider.
Comprehensive Medical Care for Infants and Children
At Boca Raton Family and Pediatric Center your children can be seen by Dr. Sandra Alvarez M.D.(Pediatrician) or by Dr. Luis Alvarez M.D. (Family Physician)
Dr. Sandra Alvarez M.D. chose to work in a small practice with her brother, Dr. Luis Alvarez, M.D. (Family Physician)for several reasons.
First, her brother is her partner. The family relationship works well in an office that treats people of all ages. Family Medicine Physicians are trained extensively in the field of Pediatrics and some people prefer to have a Family Doctor take care of their entire family. While others, want a Pediatrician for their child and a Family Doctor for themselves. We can accomodate both choices here.
Second, the fact that we are a small and family owned practice, we are able to cater to our patients in a way larger practices cannot. There are only two doctors here. So most of the time you will see your doctor. If your doctor is unavailbe when you need to be seen one the other partner can address your needs.
Third, another benefit of being a small group practice is that we can spend more individual time with our patients. We do not have to follow the rules of a big practice, and see 30-40 patients a day. That gives you about 10 minutes or less with your doctor.
If your concern takes time to work out, we take the time to make sure you are comfortable with the decision we make about your child's health.
Fourth, as children become adolescents and young adults and are ready to move on to another doctor. If they choose to, they can see Dr. Luis Alvarez M.D. All their records are here. There is no need to send all your information elsewhere.
Lastly, we are open 6 days a week and we take our own emergency calls. If your child is sick, usually we will get them in on the same day. If there is a true life threatening emergency after our business hours please call 911 immediately .
In cases where you are unsure, you may call our office line and your message is sent directly to one of our three partners. It is not an answering service or a nurse, the person calling you back will be either Dr. Sandra Alvarez M.D. or Dr. Luis Alvarez M.D.
All messages left on our office line are answered promptly.
